Janis & Oscar Roberts and Karen Luke Jackson
Light Up Hundreds of Lives
“It was a blessing for Oscar and me to be a small part of David Saltzman's legacy.”
Janis Roberts can’t stop beaming over the joy she and her husband Oscar brought the young cancer patients of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston hospital when they donated a Jester & Pharley Smile Cart™ in 2007.
Then, again in 2008, Janis and her sister Karen Luke Jackson donated another Smile Cart to Mission Children’s Hospital in Asheville, NC.
“Seeing how David’s story and doll light up the eyes of children with cancer makes me happier than I can say,” says Roberts. Also known as clown Mayor Clancey of Smileville,™ Janis’ dedication to children is legendary. She is one of many clowns who use The Jester to entertain children in hospitals across the country.
At clown conventions, Janis has introduced The Jester and its benefits to many others who, like her, bring clowning cheer to children in hospitals, spreading smiles and laughter everywhere they go. In 2004, speaking at a “Caring Clown” seminar at the Mid Atlantic Clown Association convention, Janis told many others about The Jester, including Meg Milligan (aka Macaroni Anne Cheez), who has been raising funds ever since for the donation of Jester & Pharley Smile Carts to hospitals in New Jersey.
Little Madison, left, asks Janis Roberts, aka Mayor Clancey of Smileville, to sign her copy of The Jester. Madison is one of many children receiving a Jester book and doll from The Jester & Pharley Smile Cart™ donated by Janis and her husband Oscar to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
