Grizzlies Show Their Kindness

Gledhill’s Grizzlies, like their action-oriented, intelligent mascot, leapt into their first Jester Read-A-Thon with gusto. “Students wanted to share about all the books they read,” reported kindergarten teacher Monica Burnham.

At their exuberant Capstone Recognition Assembly, Principal Consuelo Padilla and Assistant Principal Jenny Godina joined teachers, students and numerous parents in applauding student accomplishments. The Grizzlies gobbled up a total of 59,502 pages to generate the donation of Jester books and dolls to young patients at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

Mr. Grizzly couldn’t wait to join Northridge Hospital Child Life Specialist Morinsola Keshinro in handing out special Jester Award Certificates to the top readers.

Aaron Figueroa’s 4th-grade class set a high standard with 100% participation and nabbed top honors reading the most pages of any class – 20,542. The school’s top reader also came from Mr. Figueroa’s class with 4,928 pages read. “Some kids tried to outdo each other and even outdo themselves on a day-to-day basis,” Mr. Figueroa said with pride.

Ms. Keshinro happily accepted Sunshine Cards made for her patients by many students. “It’s so incredibly kind of you to design and write cards for our young patients. We appreciate your human kindness.”
