Classmates at Golden View Elementary in Huntington Beach, CA, enthusiastically celebrate student winners at a “Reading Makes a Difference” Jester Awards Assembly in the Ocean View School District.
Before my son David Saltzman returned to Yale for his senior year in September 1988, I noticed he had a dry cough. Since David had a history of bronchitis as a child, I didn’t think it was too serious, but urged him to see a doctor as soon as he could to have it checked out.
Mother’s Day admittedly isn’t easy for Barbara Saltzman, or for any mother who knows the pain of losing a child. But this year, 25 since the passing of her son David to Hodgkin’s lymphoma and 20 since the publication of his award-winning children’s book, The Jester Has Lost His Jingle,” was different.
The Jester Has Lost His Jingle/El Bufón ha perdido su gracia, serves as inspiration for young patients to rediscover their smiles.
