No jest: Ocean View School District students read thousands of hours to donate to local hospitals
Classmates at Golden View Elementary in Huntington Beach, CA, enthusiastically celebrate student winners at a “Reading Makes a Difference” Jester Awards Assembly in the Ocean View School District. They are among hundreds of students at five OVSD elementary schools and two middle schools simultaneously reading to donate Jester books and dolls to four local hospitals.
District Supt. Michael Conroy and Board of Trustees President Patricia Singer joined the assembly to congratulate students for reading thousands of minutes to help others.
OVSD students read a total of 463,392 minutes — or nearly 8,000 hours — generating a total donation of 275 The Jester Has Lost His Jingle books and 125 Jester & Pharley Dolls to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, Huntington Beach Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach.
